Well Design & Completion Engineering
AWT have a wealth of experience in completion design, preparation and installation. Including application of horizontal well technology and sand control in horizontal wells.
Recent innovative completion design applications that AWT have been instrumental in designing include:
| Location | Description |
| Offshore Western Australia | Subsea wells incorporating intelligent completion equipment facilitating selective zonal production |
| Offshore Western Australia | Heavy oil wells incorporating Coil Tubing Deployed Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESPs) |
| Offshore Western Australia | Subsea wells incorporating dual redundant ESPs |
| Offshore Western Australia | Underbalanced gas well completion design |
| Offshore PNG | Horizontal wells with sand control |
| Offshore Western Australia | Big-bore gas well designs (9-5/8? tubing) |
| Offshore Western Australia | Well workover design and sand control |

Subsea Completions
AWT provides extensive capabilities in all aspects of subsea completions including subsea wellhead and subsea tree systems engineering. Commencing with conceptual engineering design input and working closely with clients and manufacturers in supervising design, manufacture and comprehensive QA testing, our personnel are intimately familiar with control systems, flowline interfaces, permanent monitoring interfaces, installation and workover systems, flowline tie-in and testing, ROV interfaces and deployment and recovery of subsea wellhead and tree systems.
AWT has also been involved in managing the refurbishment, modification, testing and installation of used subsea trees in existing producing fields and new field developments.
Intelligent Completions
AWT personnel have evolved considerable operational experience with selecting and installing fit-for-purpose intelligent monitoring equipment and completion components. AWT's comprehensive technical appraisal processes ensure optimal remote equipment selection, including but not limited to fully autonomous down hole components, traditional hydraulic controlled devices, wireless acoustic and EM completions and electrically activated components.
AWT personnel were instrumental in the design and installation of the first intelligent well completions in Australia, in BHP Billiton’s subsea oil wells. This was followed by intelligent completion utilised at Roc Oil's platform based Cliffhead development.
Horizontal and Multilateral Completions
Optimal completion of horizontal and multilateral wells requires a strong combination of advanced design knowledge and extensive field experience. AWT possesses the necessary specialists and track record to manage the increasingly complex demands of modern horizontal and multilateral wells.
AWT's experience includes the advanced modelling of numerous types of deviated wells through industry best-of-breed software including Petroleum Expert's PROSPER, Landmark's WELLCAT and eProduction's WellFlo.
Involvement in the management and supervision of completion installations and workovers in horizontal and multilateral wells includes extended reach onshore to offshore developments, coiled tubing sidetracked wells, high-sanding onshore wells and re-completion services for remote offshore fields.
Big Bore Gas Developments
AWT have been involved in a number of high rate big-bore gas developments. Below is a project list where AWT have been integrally involved in the conceptual design, detailed engineering, well construction and testing of big-bore gas wells.
| Client | Project Name | Well Design | Well Flow Rates | Comments |
| Woodside | Echo Yodel | 9 5/8" monobore design (Subsea) | ~ 250 MMscfd | Sand control incorporated |
| Woodside | Perseus | 9 5/8" monobore design (Platform) | ~ 350 MMscfd | ~ USD $50 Million saving by reducing well numbers |
